Kate graduated from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania with a Bachelors degree in English and a Masters degree in Education. She spent nearly ten years teaching English grades 7-12 before returning to school herself to take classes toward an Associate degree in Veterinarian Technology because of her passion for animal health and welfare.
Some of the groups and campaigns Kate supports include the Make-A-Wish Foundation, for which she and her husband are Wish Granters, women's health initiatives, LGBT equality, and cancer prevention/education and research for the cure, to name a few. She has given back to her twice post-secondary alma mater, Lehigh University, as a part of Young Alumni Council, Alumni Admissions Outreach, and reunion planning committees. For her work in all of these venues, the Pennsylvania State House of Representatives formally cited Kate as an exceptional leader and role model in 2011.
Kate is married to Ray and she is blessed to raise Aubrey and Courtney, for whom her heart has no label. She loves music and dance and has been dancing since the age of three, including professionally as director of the 2006-2008 Lady Outlawz, dance team for the former indoor football team the Lehigh Valley Outlawz. At present, she teaches aquacise, Aqua ZUMBA fitness, and the tai chi-, yoga-, and pilates-inspired Les Mills format known as BODYFLOW at the Upper Perkiomen Valley YMCA, as well as ZUMBA Kids and modeling at Juli Kell’s Dance Center in Pennsburg. She also works from home as a professional travel consultant and event planner. In her free time, she catches up on reading, takes tap classes, spends quality time with her family, and is now nesting as she and Ray prepare for their first child together, expected to arrive in late October.
